Wolf Springs Ranch is located in the Wet Mountain Valley between Sangre De Cristo Mountains to the west and the Green Horn Mountains to the east, 60 miles west of Pueblo, 20 miles south of Westcliffe, a small town of 700 cut off from the outside world. We have one movie theatre, no drug store, a hardware store, and a weekly newspaper. If it weren’t for Satellite we’d never see American Idol.
Our Mountains go up to 14,000 feet but we don’t have skiing so we have been sparred commercialism. We enjoy
a nice old fashioned small town.
The Ranch sits at 8,500 feet and covers 55,000 acres or 85 square miles. Our horses grow up living outside crossing creeks and lots of wild life.
I bought the ranch in 1990 and have been cleaning it up, spraying weeds, fixing erosion, pulling old fences ever since.
We raise Arabs. Half Arabs and Quarter Arabs. Now we concentrate on mostly Half Arab Reiners. We have cattle and buffalo. Each year our ranch raises about 1000 tons of hay. There are 6 full time employees who live on the ranch. Together we put in a lot of work protecting the wild life and the environment. Wolf Springs Ranch is a historical piece of property with many famous explorers passing through.
This is our home.
